Three orangutans from Auckland Zoo have been transported to their new home in Christchurch.Three orangutans have moved to Orana Wildlife Park.The orangutans, 36-year-old Charlie, 29-year-old Melur and 38-year-old Wanita will stay in Christchurch for two years while a new area for the animals is built at Auckland Zoo. T hese are the only orangutans in the country, and this is the first time orangutans have ever been in the South Island.

I am happy this week because I am first in mangahigh and got a lot of golds its lit! 

Djembe, a 16-year-old lioness at Wellington Zoo, has undergone a four-hour operation to have a root canal performed on a lower canine.A team of 20 people were involved in the operation on the 140 kilogram cat. She is a dangerous animal and dangerous animals have the potential to cause real havoc during their procedures,” Dr Alexander said.

The world's oldest cat has died at the age of 32 Nutmeg, the long lived feline came down with breathing difficulties at the end of August, but vets were unable to save him after he suffered heart failure. He was put to sleep in early September. owners Liz and Ian Finlay say the death of their beloved moggy has left a massive hole in their lives. He was adopted in 1990, he was found in a tyneside garden.   

This week I have finished my IE presentation and creation! I wanted to get this out of the way because I found it not that fun

Dozens of dogs have hit the waves over the weekend at the annual Surf City Surf Dog competition in California. The event, which is in its ninth year, brought 40 dogs and their owners from across Southern California to catch waves and raise money for charity.Sugar has never placed lower than second in any competition she’s entered and has 15 trophies.

This week I have done well I think. I volunteered to go into metal tech work. also I did some work on my IE creation. 

on October 12th it was the 100th anniversary of New Zealand's darkest day on the battlefield: the battle of Passchendaele! 843 New Zealanders died and 1700 wounded in just a few hours. Allied troops tried to take the village of Passchendaele in Belgium. The battle nearly claimed 2000 New Zealanders lives. Canadian troops eventually captured what was left of Passchendaele in early November, but six months later the Germans retook it and held it until just before the end of the war.

A British man nearly died when a fish he had just caught jumped down his throat. They were told he had kissed the 14-centimetre Dover sole to celebrate his catch, but it wriggled free and jumped down his throat, blocking his airway. Paramedics tried to remove the fish with forceps, but the fish’s barbs and gills were getting stuck on the way back up. On their sixth attempt they managed to extract it whole.Ian Cowie from the group said “he was kissing the fish when it jumped down his throat. It’s a tradition to kiss your first catch.

My three favorite things about this year is: Music because I have sick music, Tech because tech is fun and Volleyball because I was good at the dig. I have learnt lots more maths thanks to Mangahigh! Not as much Mangahigh Tasks. My goal next term is to not get in trouble  

This dog is a creation of Holly, Holly was a border collie mixed with a labrador. She was a well trained dog she was fast and loved to play fetch the ball. I even taught her to shake my hand. But sadly Holly passed away earlier this year.

Volleyball For the last couple of weeks we have been doing Volleyball, volleyball is a game where you try and hit balls over the net! I think I have learnt how to play properly! my best move was the dig, the dig is when you hit the ball over the net with your hands together. My serv was alright and I can hit it over the net. I need lots of help on the set, the set is when you have your hands over your head and push the ball up and try and get it over the net! My favorite position was the middle and the serving    

Volleyball This week I think I have been pretty successful with Volleyball, my best hit is the dig and I think I need more help with my set but my serve is pretty good. Our team is pretty good we are doing great!

This week was Maori language week and I have learned lots of words like Nguha and whakapaku they are translations for war and guns. Also i got a silver medal in one of my tasks for mangahigh.    

NIWA will start monitoring the seabed off the kaikoura coastline to determine the impact of the earthquake! November's earthquake caused huge underwater mudslides that devastated the sea life in the area! This would be the third research voyage NIWA had conducted at the canyon since the quake, and it planned to monitor the area for decades. The Kaikōura canyon is one of around 660 such submarine canyons.

Students at one county in Florida won’t have to worry any more about homework, thanks to a new policy that affects 31 elementary schools in the area. Instead of homework Marion County Public school families will be encouraged to read  to their children for at least 20 minutes Each night. And if kids don’t have an adult at home to help them read, they can get help from volunteers or even audiobooks The policy only applies to elementary school students, so once they hit middle school, they’ll have to do homework .

This week I think I have made a lot of progress with my IE! I have done quite a lot of researching and writing summaries. My favourite part of the writing was when I was writing about Harry, Harry is someone who was trying to skip the war he missed 4 years of the war! 4 years of killing and trapping.  

  Name of the superhero: The mysterious snuggles! His parental guardian: Fantastic Sniffer! And he's a dog   His boots make him run really fast they also have rockets on on the bottom of the soul. His pants are flame proof and can’t be damaged so that basically means he can't be kneed or punched! His te shirt makes him fly and is also flame proof as well but the best thing that his te shirt does is… shoot lava out of it! His arms are as fast as the light and water come out of them! His classes make him have xray vision! His  parental guardian  Is   Fantastic Sniffer, And he's a dog! His three badges means he is the best super villain in the world it means he has killed all the guardians of the galaxy! This was the story of  The mysterious snuggles, he also likes to snuggle with dogs   

This week i have finished both my Read Theory tasks I think I did well because I went up two levels! Now I just need to work on not going back down also answering the questions not guessing them!

A dinosaur has been discovered and it is the biggest one found so far! The Dinosaur weighed about 65,000 kgs and it is about 370 meters long! That makes the animal not just the biggest known dinosaur but also the biggest known land animal ever. Only a few whale species are heftier and this dinosaur’s bones show it was still growing.Scientists have called the gigantic vegetarian dinosaur Patagotitan mayorum, in honor of the Argentine region of Patagonia and the Mayo family, owners of the Patagonian farm where a worker stumbled on  the fossil in 2010!!

Typhoon Hato hits Hong Kong The worst Typhoon in 5 years has hit Hong Kong, hitting it with a  hurricane force, winds and heavy rain! The storm caused 400 flights to be cancelled  and most businesses have been closed! Nearly 200 trees had been uprooted, blocking roads, and cars have been left under water and roads flooded! Meter-high waves had crashed onto the shores and construction cranes swayed on skyscrapers in Hong Kong! The storm has moved on the Southern Chinese Mainland! You can tell that this storm (Typhoon) was really bad!    

Why is Writing boring Writing is boring because you have to use too much punctuation and words. It tires your hands when you could just say it into a microphone. When you are writing you either have to write on paper which makes your hands sore and when you are typing your fingers have to go all over the keyboard which gives your fingers a workout which it does not need. I would rather read than write because you have to read words not write them, writing is too much work. Because it’s too much effort to write words because writing takes longer than reading! Because you have to think too much about what your gonna write! The process is too boring and you have to find evidence to back up what you are saying! Also you have to recraft and edit and copy and paste too many things!    This is my writing about why writing is boring hope you enjoy this thing

What is it I hope I will come to understand more deeply through this inquiry? I want to learn more about what happened/how and why it happened! And why anzac biscuits are special? What knowledge might I need to help move towards this understanding? The New Zealand police’s much-loved guinea pig mascot has died. ‘’Constable Elliot’’ he wore his own blue uniform similar to the Kiwi police uniform! Earlier this year Elliot was the latest recruit, his job was to teach Kiwis to drive slowly! The police announced (on twitter)  that Elliot died on the 21st of August! ‘’It’s with great sadness that we announce Constable Elliot’s passing #constableelliot #rip #nzpolice #safercommunitiestogether.” Elliot was based with the wellington police team! Constable Elliot urged motorists to slow down when driving, in particular near schools. “Remember people, the kids are going to be out and about walking and biking and crossing roads. “Like me they are small and unpredictable so you have to watch out.”

Dogs in India are turning blue, dogs in india are turning blue because of the river! Somehow dye has been transferred into rivers! Why are the dogs going in rivers? They're going in rivers because they are strays, strays are dogs that don't have an owner or a home so they don't have food or water so they go in the river to look for food and water!!   Arati Chauhan, the head of the Navi Mumbai Animal Protection Cell, posted pictures of the dogs who had been dyed blue! A complaint has been laid with the Maharashtra pollution control board, which said the dogs that turned blue had gone into the river near the site of a company that used blue dye for a range of purposes.         

This week I have finished my mangahigh task it was the hardest one I have ever done because i didn't get most of them I spent like 40-50min on this one task and got a gold!

Archaeologists have found three tombs that are over 2000 years old, they were found in southern Egypt! The tombs contained some sarcophagi. Why Is Slime Addictive? It’s  Addictive because it's slimy, sticky and you can roll it up into any shape! How does slime work? Slime works by adding different combinations of  glue and stuff like that! Different people make slime different ways. All the times i have made slime I have failed but one time I made it work I used invisible glue and other ingredients I can’t say what they are! I have also noticed that if you make slime with PVA glue it doesn't work,                          

A spider has been named after a NZ biologist called Simon Pollard! The spider species is now called Trite Pollardi! The spider is a jumping spider and is about 5mm long, It's commonly found on buildings and gardens! The spider previously called Holoplatys  sp.  

This week I think I have done pretty well because I got a gold in one of the hardest task in mangahigh that I have ever done!

New Zealand’s top pie is a mushroom bacon and cheese pie! The people who won have a bakery in Taupo, they won the award called the Bakels Supreme Award! The judge said “it looked great when it came out of the oven, pastry rich golden with the filling venison! Mr. Ing the owner of the bakery said I just bought the bakery over a year ago, he also said I can’t believe i have won a award I didn't expect that!

Thousands of duck shooters of the whole of New Zealand went out to shoot ducks this year 2017! New Zealand fish and game said it was shaping up to be a good season. They also said the ducks have been breeding in in the North and South Island.  

People in Paeroa have found over 300,000 ounces of gold! They found it in the Karangahake Gorge. One of their sites is called Dubbo! They said they wanted to begin getting small amounts of gold early next year! Another company have been protesting the  mining area since the company gained green light for bulk sampling, Protect K arangahake

The most successful swimmer of all time couldn't beat the shark. Phelps even had a special wet suit that mimicked the sharks movement though the water! I think this is amazing because he raced a shark and I wouldn't want to race a shark, think of all the things that could go wrong the shark changes his mind and eats you that's the thing i’m scared of! Phelps swam 800m of swimming! The shark swam the course in 36.1 seconds and Phelps time was 38.1!

Recraft and Edited Copy: British treasure hunters found a chest of gold worth 175 Million NZ dollars. The gold was found in a G erman WW2 boat (a shipwreck)! The ship's name was SS M inden Adolf Hitler sunk the ship on purpose.  My guess why he sunk it , I think he sunk it because he wanted the gold!  They found the ship 190 km off the southeastern coast of Iceland! The hunters had to apply to the Icelandic government to open the chest. The hunters said whoever finds  it keeps it!

This week I am really proud of my mangahigh because it was the hardest task i have ever done it was called understand percentages! I also got 4 golds.

This week I got one gold in my mangahigh task! The task I did was pretty hard. The task is called Recognise Regular Polygons it was easy when you found out what to do!

This week I have completed 2 of my mangahigh tasks with golds I am proud of this because it is pretty hard to get golds on mangahigh! I also got a bronze in the hardest fraction task I have done!

19.4m wave recorded off New Zealand Just south from New Zealand a company have recorded a 20m wave. It says it was created by the same storm that hit New Zealand. The new Zealand defence force was in collaboration with the company that found the 20m wave. They said they found the wave halfway between New zealand and Antarctica. It also says that the waves combine to make the southern ocean waves among the biggest waves in the world. On the 22nd of may they recorded the 20m wave. The highest wave recorded is 25m tall it was recorded last year in the North Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and the UK. if you were wondering how big 25m is it is about as tall as a 8 storey  building.   

I think I have achieved a lot this week the thing that I was most proud of was I got a gold medal in mangahigh! I also completed a few of my goals from last year!

Weekly Reflection  This week I think I have achieved quite a lot because I finished my hard mangahigh task that took me like 4 attempts to do the task. I think I have done pretty well this week getting most of my mangahigh tasks done!    

This is my IE reflection and what I thought about my project! There is 5 sections that I had to full in

Rugby On Tuesday's and Thursday's my rugby team train. On Tuesdays we train for fitness and passing skills so we can get fitter before the game. Thursdays we practice our tackling and passing. my favourite day for rugby training is tuesday, why because I want to get really fit and really fast. and I don't really like Thursdays because you get hurt quite a bit because the first thing we do on thursdays to start the day we tackle and I hate going up against big people because they just smash you.

1 . He's a good leader because he listens to all the people in his team and never gives up on someone example, ( if there was someone in his team he didn’t like he wouldn’t ignore them he will let them have their chance to speak ) 2. His notion was that his whole family didn’t really like to talk about what happened at school today etc, 3. If he didn’t win something he would get angry, example say if he was like 11 he was in a 100m race and he lost in the movie he said he would of got really angry at his mates! 4. He is also a great leader because he trained lots, ( example he would push himself even when he got tired even when it hurt.   5. He said his friends would make fun of him because they said they would become an all black.

CAMP What is your goal for camp? Complete everything on the high ropes Why are you coming on camp? Because it looks fun and Toby told me it was cool What skills, strengths, qualities, powers do you possess that will help you have a really successful camp experience? I will need resilience  when I do the high ropes,  connecting when  we do connecting things and collaborating when we need to make our way through a quiz. What will you do if you have a problem at camp?  Try and sort it out Who will you speak to? Teachers, parents or friends What will help you solve your problem? By talking about what happened and accept the consequences How will you be an effective team member in your car group, activity group and cabin group? By listening to what others will say and be nice. What will we see or hear? You will see me being nice to all the members in my group and you will hear me saying nice words and sorting stuff out.

Canada residents get pink water People in Canada had a problem on 13th of March... their water turned pink Because of some people put chemicals in the water or something pink. The person that noticed this first his name was Shem Banbury. I think there reaction was like this arrrrhrhhh why is my water PINK!!!!! I got this information from kiwi kids news    

HP Swimming Sports On Monday 6th of march we had HP swimming sports! I did 1 length freestyle, 2 lengths backstroke and 3 lengths backstroke. I came 3rd in my heat for 1 length freestyle I came 2  for 2nd lengths backstroke and 3rd for 3 lengths backstroke. Overall I think I had a great time at HP swimming sports. IT WAS FUN!?

50th Anniversary On the weekend my Nan and Pop had their 50th anniversary! We went to pauanui/the lodge. I brought a friend with me his name is Jacob. When we got there Jacob and I went straight to our room to see what it looked like it  only had 2 beds and hardly any room. After That we went to the beach and it had manga as waves. After we got back we waited for a while for dinner. When we had dinner we went down to the old paintball track it was really cool then we looked at the new one it wasn’t as cool. Then we went to bed. The next day we had breakfast. Then went to the beach with my cousins the waves were still big but not as big as yesterday. After we were at the beach we went to waterfall. Then went home

I want to know more about the mud Puddles in Rotorua, why they bubble? When will they explode? What will happen when it does explode? Etc,. I will need lots of  knowledge towards this project like to research this topic a lot more. I hope that In can find some books at home about Geothermal Energy (Non fiction). I will need resilience when I read my books make sure I dont give up while reading. I will need collaboration when I talk to people Etc, the prawn park I will say to the staff how do you store your Geothermal Energy in the tanks? how do you filter it!

My weekly news: New Zealand or Zealandia? So what basically happened was most of Zealandia sunk we think that a volcano made it sink. Americans because they were the ones that discovered Zealandia. Nobody knows when it happened. It happened in Zealandia. Well I think it happened because a volcano split us from Australia then made zealandia sunk. It happened because a volcano erupted! I think that the news was pretty exciting because I have never heard of that I have heard of stories but no this one. This means that i have learned a new thing and it's bad because i think we once were Aussie. I got this information from Kiwi Kids News. My question how far apart were we? It says we were 25 km apart.

On my best weekend I would take Ryan. We are going to win 600 million dollars at US. Oh we forgot Hamish so we are going back to New Zealand! When we finally get back to US we go to win 60 million dollars. We are eating hotdogs and drinking coke. We are seeing people getting  really to win the money. We are hearing voices. Hamish, Ryan and I are feeling nervous. Why is this the best weekend ever because we won 600 MILLION DOLLARS. Nothing would make me feel better about what happened today.  

If I could go back in history I would go back to the Dinosaurs to see if they were what Scientist think they looked like today. This experience would be really cool because i could get a lot of money if I bring back a picture. I can't really research this topic

Where would I like to go? First I would go to USA to go to disneyland Because I would like to go on all the flash rides New Zealand doesn’t have. I would bring some money to! Second I would go to Aussie Because I would go to the fairs and the theme parks. Third I would go to Iceland to see the blue lake. I would take lots of money with me so I could buy a lot of things.

My one word is: Opportunity   Why I chose this 'word' I chose this word because I have the Opportunity to do many things in Marama this year and I take the word Opportunity as a serious thing. Not just the word itself all the other things it may contain. My quote:

In Marama this year we have done this Tuakana Teina thing I will explain soon. There is 3 things Teina Tupu Tuakana i chose to be in tupu the middle group. Why i choose Tupu... I chose it because I thought that is where I fit in. Where will i go from here... I will try to go up to Tuakana.

In the test I found out that I am Body-Kinesthetic because I like playing sport etc, Rugby, Cricket, Touch and basketball! My strengths are body-kinesthetic at 67%,musical at 50% and naturalistic at 50%. I am Music Smart because I like playing the Drums.  I am Naturalistic because I like walking my dog and I care about animals. Everything is nearly even so I think that I'm lucky to have strengths in many 'Multiple Intelligences'
